Are you planning your wedding day soon? Great, then you’re in the right place. Here are some great practical wedding tips to ensure smooth sailing when it comes to your wedding day.

Hire a Photographer

Photographs capture memories that will last a lifetime. It pays to spend the extra cash to hire a wedding photographer (and/or videographer) in order to reduce the chance of some amateur screwing up your wedding photos/videos. These photos and videos will live on long after the wedding day, so invest wisely. This is often the thing that most couples wish they spent more on (besides the DJ).

Write Your Own Wedding Vows

Take the time necessary to write out your wedding vows. Feel free to search Google for some starter ideas, but don’t copy/paste these. These vows should come from your experiences and from your heart.

Keep in mind that your marriage is a strong bond between two parties that must both compromise and sacrifice. When you are saying your vows, ensure your spouse knows and understands exactly how much he/she means to you.

Practice Self-Care

Many couples find it super stressful to plan their own wedding (and it is). Be sure to practice good self-care, especially the month and week of the wedding. If you have a therapist, check in with him/her that month for sure! Go get a massage, get a facial, or just have fun!

Remember the Goal

Your wedding is one of the biggest parties you’ll ever throw in your life. Don’t get too stressed out about all of the details. Just remember, you’ll get to have everyone that you love and care about in the same room, on the same day. Your goal should be to just have a fun, memorable time!

Have a Designated Dance Floor

This last tip is often forgotten. Remember, ideally, your reception location should have a dance floor or room for dancing. There are few things that can suck the fun out of a reception like not having the room to bust a move can, so do what you need to do to give you and your friends the space you need to show their dance moves!

If the dance area will be outdoors, consider renting a dance floor, if there isn’t already one provided. Be sure to check out the dancing area, too, if you’re not opting for a dance floor. Make sure that the area is level and that there are no places where people may trip or fall, or hurt themselves! We’ve seen it happen a few times, so always check beforehand.

Overall, just remember that you want to be able to fully enjoy your wedding, so start planning as early as possible. The earlier you plan, the easier it is since you won’t have to worry about not having enough time. Most people plan their wedding about 12 months out.
